Asahi Nagata
I am based in Minneapolis Minnesota, USA. I specialize in illustration that displays authentic retro effect, print-like texture and bold vintage style color palette. You can visit my website at ILLOIRRO.com.
My name is Asahi (AH-sah-hee / it means ‘sunrise’ in Japanese) and I am a freelance illustrator currently based in Minneapolis Minnesota where it gets very long and cold in winter. I was originally born in Sapporo, Hokkaido Japan in 1992 – where it also gets a lot of snow in winter – and grew up there until I moved to the United states for college in 2011. After graduating university with a graphic design degree, I worked at a design studio in Minneapolis as an illustrator. While I worked there, I did a lot of old prints restoration work as well as creating new illustrations. I got to observe hundreds of vintage prints and that was a big part of how my current illustration style has been established.
